I couldn’t highly recommend it more

I’m Ann from Australia, and here is a little something from my trip to Türkiye. I started to plan my trip in October 2024, not knowing much about Türkiye. So, first, I booked my tickets and looked around for a tour that sparked my interest and places I would like to visit and tick off my list. So, by late January 2025, the tour was booked, and hotels were booked. My trip was for June 2025 the start of summer. I booked my trip for 26 days with 15 days being with a tour company so I was left with 11 days in Istanbul solo, I did a lot of research via travel vlogs on YouTube and TikTok which helped with knowing what to do and what to be careful with for example scams (which happen in any country).

When I told people my travel plans to Türkiye a lot had a pre-preceived notion of a country from many decades before. As it is an Islamic country and women have no rights. The only time I need to wear a head scarf and dress modestly was when visiting mosques. Even when they were protesting in Istanbul, it was well maintained and the police presence was known. I felt safe as a solo female even to walk alone at night.

Spending 11 days in Istanbul was amazing and I still don’t have enough time to visit everything. I highly recommend Türkiye to anyone, as the country is very historical, full of stories, beauty, food, and wonderful people. I couldn’t recommend it more.
